Our
Meeting Place
When you enter our building, you will be greeted by people who
want to make your visit with us a great experience. They will be
happy to give you directions to our classrooms, restrooms,
fellowship hall or main auditorium. In our auditorium you will
find pews and chairs arranged facing the front of the hall. There
is no reserved seating, so please sit anywhere you would like.
Singing
Singing is an important and beautiful part of our worship
assembly. We encourage each other and praise our God from our
hearts as we sing to Him. Our song leader will ask you to turn to
a specific page in our songbook or direct your attention to words
and music in a bulletin insert or overhead on slides.
Prayer
We believe in the power of prayer. Several times throughout our
assembly you will be invited to come before God in prayer. If you
have a prayer request, please indicate what you would like us to
pray about on an attendance sheet, which is inserted in the Sunday
bulletin. We will collect these sheets following our communion at
the Lord’s table.
The Lord's Supper
A very special part of our worship is the time we take to honor
our Savior by partaking of a simple memorial we call the Lord’s
Supper. During this memorial we will give thanks and pass plates
with pieces of unleavened bread throughout the assembly. The bread
symbolizes the body of Jesus. Each Christian will break off a
piece of bread and eat it. Next, we give thanks and pass trays
containing small cups of grape juice. This fruit juice symbolizes
the blood that Christ shed on the cross for our sins. Each
Christian will drink the contents of one cup. If you don’t feel
comfortable participating in this memorial, simply pass the tray
to the person next to you.
Collection
Sometime during our worship assembly we will take up a monetary
collection. Baskets will be passed along each pew and people who
desire to support the efforts of the O’Fallon Church of Christ
are encouraged to give what they can. Guests are not expected to
contribute.
Children's Power Hour
On Sunday mornings, we have a special program for children ages 3
through the 2nd grade called Power Hour. The song leader will
announce the time for the children to leave the auditorium. They
will sing songs, make crafts and listen to a story from the Bible.
Following services, parents are encouraged to pick up their
children as soon as they can. Feel free to attend Power Hour with
your child until they feel comfortable in Power Hour by
themselves.
The Lesson
During our worship assembly you will hear a message from the Bible
by our preacher. His lesson will last from 20 to 30 minutes. We
are confident you will find his lesson relevant and encouraging.
Invitation
At the close of his lesson, the person preaching usually offers an
invitation. This is a time when members or guests can make
spiritual needs known to the congregation. People usually come to
the front of the auditorium and sit on the front pew. At that
time, one of our Shepherds will find out what the need is and will
share it with the congregation. People come forward for prayers,
to place membership, to become Christians or to publicly
rededicate themselves. We have a baptistry at the front of the
auditorium and robes available so that anyone who wants to become
a Christian can be baptized whenever he or she desires. |
