Romans
3:22-24
This righteousness from God comes through
faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and
are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came
by Christ Jesus.
* According to this
passage how many have sinned?
* Does that include you and me and the guy next door?
* What do you think it means to "fall short of the glory of
God?" Romans 6:23
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
* What kind of death is
this passage talking about? Physical or spiritual?
Mark 9:43-48
"If your hand causes you to sin, cut
it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two
hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 45 And if
your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to
enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better
for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two
eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where 'their worm does not die,
and the fire is not quenched."
* What does this passage
teach us about the importance of dealing with our sins?
Luke 6:41-42
"Why do you look at the speck of
sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in
your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me
take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the
plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of
your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from
your brother's eye."
* What does this passage
teach us about how we often try to justify the sins in our lives?
