There are so many great passages that help us understand how to
live the new life we have in Christ when we become a Christian.
Here are a few to help you as begin your journey.
Romans 6:2-4
By no means! We died to sin; how can we
live in it any longer? 3Or don't you know that all of
us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his
death? 4We were therefore buried with him through
baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from
the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new
life.
* What does it mean to
live a new life?
* What things in our lives would have to change in order for us to
be pleasing to God?
Ephesians 4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to your
former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being
corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new
in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new
self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
* What sort of things
would a person need to "put off?"
* Why would this be a difficult thing to do?
Galatians 5:17-25
For the sinful nature desires what is
contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the
sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you
do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under law. 19The acts of the sinful
nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry
and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish
ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy;
drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before,
that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness 23
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those
who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with
its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the
Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

the sinful nature?"
Galatians 6:9-10
Let us not become weary in doing good, for
at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your

whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is
